Ayia Napa & Protaras, Cyprus

Ayia Napa or (Agia Napa) is renowned for its partying and vibrant nightlife but is also a great destination for families. Some of the best beaches are here on the rugged southeast coast, notably Blue Flag-awarded Nissi Beach with its sweeping 500m stretch of soft white sand and further west picturesque Makronissos Beach and Agia Thekla with its series of tiny bays. Whether you want to sunbathe all day or try some watersports from banana boat rides to water-skiing, you can do everything here.

Ayia Napa is a playground of sorts with something for all ages. Close to the bustling town centre is Amusement park Parko Paliatso Luna Park, the colossal Waterworld Waterpark is also close by. There’s plenty of old-fashioned charm in this tranquil old fishing village with delights such as Limanaki harbour with its fish market and waterfront tavernas serving freshly caught seafood, and Ayia Napa’s most famous landmark the beautifully renovated honey-coloured Ayia Napa Monastery from the bygone Venetian era. Ayia Napa is a haven for exclusive beach hotels and boutique hotels with those exclusively for adults and other more family-orientated holiday retreats. Set in prime spots amid lush tropical gardens or directly on the waterfront you are spoilt for choice here.
